Eucalyptus saligna (Sydney blue gum) is a very large tree growing but usual smaller when cultivated outside its natural range. It is well regarded as a commercial hardwood timber is therefore a commonly grown plantation species. It grows in these systems as a straight well formed tree and visually most attractive and not prone to attack from insects perhaps as much as many other species gown under similat regimes. It performs well outside its natural range in particular in colder environments. Closely related to Euc. grandis.
Eucalyptus saligna wood is prized for flooring and furniture making, it has a rich honey colour.
